What personal data the Yappman Data website collects, why, and your choices.
This notice explains what personal data the Yappman Data website at data.yappman.com collects about visitors, why, and your choices. The data products themselves describe retail prices and contain no personal data.
Who we are
Yappman Data is a trading name of Abley-Yapp Consulting Limited, registered in England and Wales (company no. 16120444), registered office High Trees Trystings Close, Claygate, Esher, England, KT10 0TF. The controller of personal data on this site is that company. Contact: info@yappman.com.
What we collect, and why
- Cookies and analytics. This site sets no cookies. We use cookieless analytics (Umami) that counts pages and referrers without identifying you. Umami records page views, referring sites, browser, operating system, device type and country, and describes its data as anonymous: it identifies a visit only by an anonymous session identifier and never tracks you across websites. We honour your browser’s Do Not Track setting. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (understanding how the site is used so we can improve it). See Umami’s privacy information.
- The announcement bar. If you dismiss it, we remember that for your visit in your browser’s session storage. It never leaves your browser and is cleared when you close the tab.
- Server logs. The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which, like any web host, receives your IP address and browser details when you load a page. We do not have access to these logs for our own use. See GitHub’s privacy statement.
- The Shelf-Price Index page and the home page. They load the published index data directly from Apify’s servers (api.apify.com), so Apify also receives your IP address when you view them. See Apify’s privacy policy.
- If you email us. We keep your message and email address to reply and to keep a record of the correspondence. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests (answering enquiries and, where relevant, taking steps towards a licence).
Who receives data
GitHub (hosting), Apify (index data) and Umami (analytics), each acting as a service provider as described above. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for up to 6 months, the retention of our current Umami plan. Emails are kept for as long as needed for the enquiry and our records, then deleted.
Your rights
You can switch analytics off by turning on Do Not Track in your browser. Under UK data protection law you may ask for access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Email info@yappman.com. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
